Marlene Dickinson is a choreographer who is uniquely equipped to serve both the theatre and church community. With a professional background in musical theatre, Marlene knows how to harness the power of dance to move an audience.
Having worked for the past 30 years at the intersection of Christianity and theatre, she also understands the unique considerations of Christian artists working in the professional, academic or church setting.
Marlene is a team player who enjoys working with Directors and Church leaders to integrate a mature expression of dance that will propel a story or service.
Marlene Dickinson is a dancer and choreographer who has worked for the past 30 years at the intersection of Christianity and the arts. She is passionate about honoring the Lord through artistic excellence and encouraging others to this end.
As an independent choreographer, Marlene has developed several original pieces to support the talks of nationally known author and speaker Dr. Lori Salierno, Founder of Celebrate Life International (www.celebratelife.org). Marlene has choreographed or performed in more than 25 musicals and revues for theaters, colleges, schools and churches.
Favorite shows include “Hello, Dolly!”, “The Music Man” and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” As an actress, she worked on numerous cruise ships throughout the Caribbean, and at Indianapolis’ Indiana Repertory Theater and Beef and Boards Dinner Theater, among others.
Marlene has been on several extensive tours of the far East, Europe, and Hawaii with Operation Appreciation, a Christian U.S.O. type ministry, reaching out to soldiers all over the world. For ten years, she served as Director of Theater Arts at Church at the Crossing in Indianapolis where she directed and choreographed existing and new works, most often using dance as a form of story telling.
She was a full scholarship recipient and summa cum laude graduate of Northern Kentucky University’s Theater performance program. She is a past and present member of the Board of Directors of Christians in Theater Arts, an international network of Christian artists (www.cita.org).
Marlene lives in the Atlanta area with her husband of 24 years, Curtis, and their children, Lily and Tommy. They are active members of First Baptist Church Woodstock.
